Fahrenheit 451 is based on a short story called "The Fireman" written by Bradbury in 1951 and later expanded into a full novel in 1953. Ray Bradbury's fantastical dystopian novels such as 'Fahrenheit 451' and short stories are among the most celebrated of the 20th and 21st centuries. There are examples of her work as well as past experiences, which influence her personality, passion and focus within her field.

Unlike most science fiction, Fahrenheit 451 does not view technology as a universal good. Rather, the novel explores the potential for technological advancement to make humans less free. Books censorship has never gone away, after all.
